| How to Care For Your Civilian Bulletproof Vest
Your Civilian
Bulletproof Vest is your investment for safety so make sure that it will
last long and it will provide the protection that you need. To make it last
long and maintain its ballistic performance, here are the basic care
instructions on your civilian bulletproof vest.
1. Regularly wash and clean your civilian bulletproof vest. Your vest should be treated like an ordinary garment that needs to be cleaned and washed to avoid bacterial build up and foul odor. 2. When washing, always remove the armor panels and trauma pads. Armor panels and Trauma pads are cleaned by gently wiping them using sponge or damp cloth. You can put the armor carrier on the washing machine on a gentle cycle using mild detergent. Avoid having them commercially washed because of the use of harsh detergents that can be harmful to the armor carrier. 3. Never bleach or dry clean your civilian bulletproof vest. The chemicals used in bleaching and dry cleaning can degrade the materials used on the civilian bulletproof vest. 4. Always wear your civilian bulletproof vest properly. Over strapping should be avoided when wearing your vest so as not to cause curling and unnecessary wear. Moreover, over strapping can restrict your movements and activities when you need to move and act fast during stressful situation. It can also provide you discomfort and difficulty in breathing. 5. Wear the trauma plates and other inserts or accessories on the space provided on your civilian bulletproof vest. Wearing them properly will provide you maximum protection because they are properly located on your vulnerable areas. 6. Store your civilian bulletproof vest separately in a flat position. This is because other equipment may push the vest that can cause curling. Hanging is also not allowed when storing your vest as this will cause curling and stretch on the vest. |
